Stress - nothing new, right?

How come I always get in those situations?
How come I'm so stressed even though I have holidays?
DARN, is the only thing I can say about that ...

Well, actually I wanted to write about my weekend which was in some ways really strange but also really "successful" ... I'm still thinking about everything that happened, everthing that was said and everything that wasn't.

For example, my best friend's ex-boyfriend told me how wonderful I am ("You're so pretty! And smart! ..."). And her boyfriend wanted to have a little sex talk with me (I still wonder how embarrassing it will be to see him again when he's paying me for my work!).

But the most interesting thing of all is that I got to know a nice guy ... one who's NOT GAY! Unfortunately I lost his phone number, so maybe I will never see him again. How typical, isn't it? Life can be so cruel ...

Today I was at Flex to see The Decemberists. A really nice concert. But tomorrow I have to get up again at 5 a.m., so I should better go to bed. Good Night, And Good Luck!

Alles Gute, Hans Hölzel!

My Mum said that Falco would have had his 50th birthday today.
And Wikipedia agrees.
Just too bad that he can't celebrate it with all his Karlsplatzfriends :(
Tja: Ganz Wien greift nach Kokain!

Louie, Louie ... Mmmmmmjamjamjam!

I love Louie, Louie! Definitivly my favourite café in Stockholm. Well, they have good rock music, nice waiter guys with tattoos and the goddarn best macka med hommous of the world!!! Mjamjamjam! And hopefully they start again with that kick ass Fritz's Corner Sunday brunch soon. Me likey! as my lovely Katti would say :)

Morning sickness ...

In the kitchen it's smelling like cat food and this makes me feel a bit sick. Otherwise I'm thinking of money and Capybara ...

KING KONG - Janis's next DJ gig!

That's where I'll play some records the next time :)

And I quote from the MySpace event description:
Once again we are proud to present an interesting band from Gothenburg. This time it's The Electric Pop Group who enter the little, little stage. They released their debutalbum in December last year and the Indie MP3-blog wrote: "It's listening to records like this that give me an enthusiasm for music! An album that will impress those who were around in the mid to late eighties during jangle pop's golden age to those discovering it for the first time today." We are also proud to present a new guest in the DJ-booth. It's our new friend Janis from Austria. Lastly, as a bit of a surprise, we are proud to present Tupelo Honeys, a Stockholm based band that were added to the line up at the very last minute. Enjoy!

Weekend witnesses (Friday)

Alright! So it's Sunday again and I survived another weekend. Well, and you too if you read this :) I guess it's time to give a short summary what happened here in Stockholm in the last days. Yup, it is!

Friday
Before the well-deserved weekend starts you have to deserve it well, you know :) So I had a reading seminar session of the collaborative computing course at university that started far too early in the morning. Half past 7 I entered the kitchen because every "hard working day" starts with a little breakfast. But I could have thrown up when I saw the nice mess my neighbours have left me over night: BLOOD! EVERYWHERE!!! On the floor! On the table! On the fridge! In the fridge! Somebody had his/her steak very bloody I guess. Uuaaaah!

After a morningshock like this the day could only become better. And it did: After university I had a glass of champagn at the *****hotel Sheraton with my friends Jonas, Daniel and Tobias to celebrate our project's kick-off (I will give you probably more details about this some other time! But it's reeeeaaaalllly exciting I tell you!). Fancy!

And in the evening I went out with friends. First a förfest at Christophe's place in Solna which was not so easy to find. Or did I just have a bad-sense-of-orientation-day? Well, whatever, after a glass of wine and a beer we went in to town, directly to Debaser where I met my wonderful but these days too hard working friend Katti. It was time for her to have a good hard party night ... and for me too. So we danced, watched the 2 concerts and met people. I even met a Swedish guy called Johan (Jill, it's the Legolas guy!) who I met in Vienna several months ago when he was playing with his band Liquid Scarlet there (The band that Idolen-winner Markus Fågervall was playing in before he became famous).

Liquid Scarlet

AND we met Daniel, my drummer friend from the upcoming next big Swedish rock thing who use to call themselves Film On Four by now. And again the evening ended up at an efterfest (after party) for just us 3 and me falling asleep on a couch after watching a movie. This time we didn't have any popcorn battle though :)

Film On Four

I came home around 13:30 :P

Weekend witnesses (Saturday)

I was tired as hell until around 7 in the evening. But then I got to know our new French neighbour who is replacing 2 of our Chinese for a month and he managed to get me into a conversation. Respect! Half an hour later my favourite little Frenchman Francois and I left for our long trip to Alby. It's still Stockholm - if you believe it or not :) But the journey was absolutely worth it because Linus was having a party. And Linus's parties are always a nice experience because he and his flat mates always pick some kind of funny topic and most of the guests dress up according to the theme.

This time it was "Bonde söker fru" (farmer searches woman) and people were running around their in traditional Swedish farmer dresses or working overalls or checkered shirts or with tights and a pillow on their butt to be a chicken or some animal like this. REALLY FUNNY!!! At least Francois and me had fun at watching as we both drank water most of the time (You don't have to be drunk every night, do you?) while the Swedish people got more and more shaky in the knees and talkative :) Actually Francois and I had the secret mission to find "the right guy" for me ... unfortunately we didn't have so much luck. The options were pretty good but still there was no CLICK-moment for me. Sorry, guys! Well, no, actually you should be sorry :)

At half past 2 we left and headed home which was taking ages because of several drunken Swedish missbehaves on the subway. Some were drumming loud and at one subway station a guy pissed out from the carriage onto the platform and the train driver couldn't close the door. Oh la la!

When Francois and I arrived home there was a French revolution in the kitchen. The guys were cooking some late night food and Bernd, our German neighbour was lying knocked out on the couch. We joined them a little bit, watched some robert redford + barbara streisand movie and went to bed around 5.

Yo, it was a good evening!

Fancy Fencing!

I'm back! Goddarn, I'm back!

After one and a half weeks I made it finally to tonight's fencing training. Ivan, our trainer, was unfortunately sick and couldn't give the standard lessons. Or should I maybe say "luckily"? Because we had a little competition instead and guess who won it! Yup, ME!!! I won every fight except one which I lost 4:5 ... but sometimes I was a little bit afraid of winning as Swedish girls aren't the best loosers, you know. I heard all the swearing words tonight :P

Yup, I really feel remembered of good old days ...

...just that my hair isn't "poppy red" anymore :)

Drunken Swedes!

A proof that Jonas and my other 3 Swedish friends were working hard to finish all of Magnet's sparkling wine (tack, philipp!).

Stars are blind

Haha! I had a funny little experience today:
Sir Sergio met Princess Paris!
Yes, I saw Paris Hilton, the celebrity that became famous for nothing but being stupid. She gave autographs at Lugner City (Vienna) because she's this year's "star guest" at Little Lugner's Opernball.
There were fucking trucks full of people and I went around laughing and laughing. Fat old women smiled at me and said: "She's so ugly!" Small girls were screaming like mad and at the same time afraid to be late for school.
And the best thing of all: I haven't been that hungry for weeks :)

Junk of the Hearts

Yesterday was Valentinesday ... And I don't like this day ...

I mean, are lovers not lucky enough with each other anyway? Do they and the flower shops and the chocolate producers and TV and radio and the whole unjust world really have to show the poor lonely hearts that they don't have someone to be romantic with??? OK, I could ignore the whole thing or think about it as some commercial nonsense. But I find it hard as one is confronted with it all day: Newspaper articles in "metro", commercials on the walls on the way to university, couples walking around hand in hand (and in the other hand it's a rose), "kärlekskyckling" (love chicken) as the highlight lunch menu at the uni restaurant, everyone at systembolaget bought fancy red wine for their romantic dinners, a long cue at the flower shop next to the alcohol affair ... Pffffff!

I wanted to go out in the evening. I had worked almost day in day out for 3 weeks and after the presentation about blogs and wikis I deserved a nice evening. I was in the mood for drinking beer and beat up some lovers :) But none of my friends wanted to join. Well, there's this thing with Swedish people being extremely boring on weekdays ... But luckily enough I was in a good mood anyway after Sweden, Sweden requesting me to play again records again in late may (Well, who needs roses if you get a booking in Berlin???) and about good feedback from the teacher concerning the presentation. So I just decided to go out alone. To Klubb Fullträff because there is no entrance fee until 11 pm and beer costs "only" 20 sek. And it looks there like this:

I was standing alone at the bar for a while and started thinking about if I should go home after one beer and watch the Marilyn Monroe movie Jill sent to me the other day. BUT THEN 3 nice Swedish single girls came to me and just invited me to hang out with them. So I did and it became a really funny evening. Of course with a bit of nagging about stupid guys. In fact, one of the girls was dumped just this Sunday and one of the reasons (besides age difference, different views of life, etc.) was that she didn't listen to the same music as him. WHAT THE -BEEP-?!?!??

Goddamn, guys, how can you dump nice, happy and uncomplicated girls who are open to new people and have a great sense of humour just because they can't listen to the same music as you (due to no computer with internet available!!!)?!?! I don't get it. And I don't get myself because when I woke up this morning I was thinking like almost every morning about the guy who managed to break my heart and probably isn't even aware of it. Hm ...

Well, time for some WOLFGANG GEWALT now. That's probably the only lovesong that I can listen to right now :) And if you are in Vienna on the 24th of March:

Sally Shapiro

Sometimes it's strange how suddenly and how intensive a new band or a new artist is appearing. At least in a personal/subjective perspective. Right now this is happening with Sally Shapiro for me. Yesterday my friend Stefan recommended her to me. And Stefan is a goddarn expert when it comes to music. And today I google for >>"Sweden, Sweden" Berlin<< and find by coincidence an article about Sally Shapiro on the indie online-fanzine Soundmag. So what's coming up tomorrow, Sally? :)

Ja, ja, keep on smiling! I know it's funny! 'Cause tomorrow you'll still be in my ear and on my mind. In German we would call that an "Ohrwurm"!

Berlin rockz!

Last weekend me, the one and only but already very swedenized Donnie, returned to Berlin. First time since the big world championship. Well, there was no "WM-Fieber" left but it was amazing fun anyway! Why? Because it was the premier of my new favourite club: Sweden, Sweden! at Magnet.

Sweden, Sweden!

As you can tell by the name this is a club spezialized on Swedish indie music. So three gorgeous bands were performing live on stage (Streetwaves, The Light Bulb Project and the amazing Torpedo who were and are my all-time favourites) and 8 DJs were taking care of good Swedish music for the rest of the night. Among them Firefox A.K., TGR Lou, Elias (Burning Heart), Abbas, etc., etc. AND me :) So while I was "working" all night long and made the people sweat on the dancefloor, my Swedish homies who came along with me for some shorttime vacation worked hard on drinking up all champaign (How do you say "Sekt" in English???) available at Magnet. And they succeeded. Haha, those Swedes!!!

Anyway, the next Sweden, Sweden will be on 25th of May and it looks velly good that I can play some records there again. Yo, it's my goddarn pleasure!!! So stay tuned and become freinds with Sweden Sweden on Myspace.

And just for you: My favourite 2 photos of that night that I found on the web:
